The Radio Authority has announced that four stations have applied to run the new small-scale radio licence for the Cambridge area. The licence will cover a more localised area than the existing ILR service provided by Q103 FM. Around 120,000 adults should be able to receive the new service.
The applicants are:
Amber Radio (GWR Group, Russell Stuart, 01603 630621) easy listening aimed at over 35’s
CCR (Cambridge Community Radio, Philip Solo, 01223 500107) community based with classic music
Hawk FM (CAM FM, Nick Barraclough, 01223 880835) catering for 15-34 age-range with large amount of news and information
K-I-N-G (Midsummer Communications, Michael Gouldthorp, 01954 781888) music-led localised service with community involvement
The successful applicant will be announced during the summer or early autumn.
