Freeserve Appoints New CEO To Replace Pluthero

Freeserve has announced that Eric Abensur is to take the post of chief executive officer following the recent departure of John Pluthero (see Pluthero Quits Freeserve For Energis).

Abensur, who has been acting CEO since Pluthero’s resignation, previously worked at Freeserve as chief financial officer. Prior to this he was director of finance at France Telecom and has also held management positions at Ernst & Young’s audit departments.

Nicholas Dufiurcq, chairman and CEO of Freeserve’s parent company Wanadoo, said: “I am delighted to confirm Eric Abensur as CEO of Freeserve. I have every confidence that under Eric’s leadership Freeserve will strengthen its position at the forefront of the UK’s internet market and continue to provide a high-class online experience to it’s customers.”

Earlier this month Freeserve launched a multi-million pound advertising campaign to promote its flat-rate any time internet access package, with a nation-wide radio and television advertising campaign. (see Freeserve Sticks With Hippies For Latest Ad Campaign). The campaign, which develops the existing Hippy theme created by M&C Saatchi, launched last week across the main terrestrial and satellite channels in a burst planned by Walker Media.
