Freeserve Appoints Thomas As Marketing Director

Freeserve has appointed Caroline Thomas as portal strategy and marketing director, replacing the recently departed Peter Cowley.

Thomas has been with Freeserve for two years, managing the group’s portfolio of broadband and narrowband products. Prior to joining Freeserve she worked for British Telecom in its interactive TV and internet divisions and for Compaq in its new media sector.

Jon Gisby, managing director of Freeserve, commented: “Both our content and our ISP member base are growing fast and we really need someone like Caroline to make sure we direct that growth and development in the right way.”

Thomas added: “We are looking at a whole raft of exciting new product developments and offers coming up and I am looking forward to the challenge of developing the portal further to improve our overall customer experience.”

Freeserve recently launched a multimillion pound advertising campaign to promote its AnyTime service in the highly competitive internet broadband market (see Freeserve Embarks On Major New Ad Campaign).

New research from MSN and the Interactive Advertising Bureau paints an encouraging picture for online advertising during 2003, with three quarters of marketers expected to increase or maintain their online advertising budgets during the next six-months (see Research Reflects Strength Of Online Advertising).
