Freeserve Hands Online Account To itraffic

Freeserve has awarded its entire online advertising account to interactive agency, itraffic.
itraffic, which secured the deal after a three-way pitch organised by the AAR, will handle all digital marketing for Freeserve, including strategy and advertising. It will also work alongside Freeserve’s other above-the-line agencies to support the internet service provider’s broadband and AnyTime products.
Keith Hawkins, Freeserve’s managing director of marketing, said: “Online advertising plays an important role in our marketing mix. We believe in the medium and are investing accordingly, in fact, we are currently spending almost as much online as we are in press.”
Jon Sharpe, managing director of itraffic UK, added: “Freeserve’s marketing team values and understands the potential of the online medium. This was a very rigorous pitch and a great win for us.”
Freeserve, which recently lost its founder and chief executive, John Pluthero, to telecoms group Energis (see Pluthero Quits Freeserve For Energis), is set to be renamed Wanadoo by its French owners as part of a multimillion pound rebranding campaign. The ISP says it is “evaluating the opportunities and risks” of the move (see Freeserve Could Rebrand As Wanadoo).
