FT To Trial Colour Magazine
The Financial Times is to trial a colour magazine with its Saturday edition on November 19. The one-off magazine will be a trial edition. If it proves successful it will become a quarterly regular. This is not the first time the FT has trialled colour magazines; there have been a series of one-offs, such as for the World Cup and the Round the World Yacht Race. Michael Hendersen of the FT told MediaTel that initial interest in the magazine looked good.
Editorially the full colour magazine will be a consumer title concentrating on fashion and luxury goods, entitled “How to Spend It”, it is based on the How To Spend It page of the Weekend Section. Suggested editorial ideas include a fashion survey, a diary page, women’s cosmetics, evening wear for men and women, accessories and beauty problems for men. Rates for the magazine are as follows:
Mono Page: £8,500
Colour Page: £9,500
