Digital radio station Fun Kids is to broadcast nationally across Great Britain during the summer holiday period.
The station will broadcast on Digital One, the national commercial DAB digital radio network, between 27 June and 3 October.
As well as broadcasting on DAB digital radio, Fun Kids is also available across the UK on Sky Digital, Virgin Media and online.
Fun Kids, which won digital station of the year at this year’s Sony Radio Academy Awards, joins Amazing Radio (see New national station to launch on DAB), armed forces station BFBS Radio and Planet Rock, as the fourth digital only station on Digital One.
Glyn Jones, Digital One’s acting chief executive, said: “With the launch of Fun Kids, Digital One has added three new services to the national line-up on digital radio since April. Given the recession, that’s very positive.
“It’s great that over the summer, families and children across the UK can listen to a dedicated station that’s both fun and educational. Agreeing a fourteen week contract also shows flexibility and a desire to make things happen both from Digital One and the broadcasting regulator, Ofcom.”
