Future Acquire Aspen Titles

Future Publishing have bought Aspen Litharne’s seven magazines and exhibition interests. The title’s purchased are Cake Decoration , Cross Stitch , Needlecraft , Machine Knitting News , Machine Knit Today, Sew Today and Christmas Baking as well as the Cake Decorating, Sugarcraft and Baking Show.

Commenting on the deal, Future Publishing’s managing director Greg Inham said, “We’re pleased to have been able to acquire these titles from Aspen, who have proved doughty competitors to us in the stitching market.”

The Aspen Litharne titles and the existing craft titles from Future will be run by publisher Janet Meadowcroft and assistant publisher Katherine Raderecht as part of the newly formed Music and Crafts group.

…Future has also announced that it will no longer be publishing the Channel 4/Chrysalis magazine Football Italia after the January 1997 issue. Publisher Richard Brock described the title as “super niche” and said that Future wanted to concentrate on broader areas. It is understood however that Chrysalis wants to keep the title going.
