Future Acquires Four New Titles From Dennis

Magazine and internet publishing group Future Network has acquired four magazines and three websites from Dennis Publishing. The music and technology titles complement Future’s portfolio, which specialises in computing, music and other specialist titles.

The magazine titles acquired are: Hi Fi Choice, Home Entertainment, Metal Hammer, and Classic Rock. The three former titles are well-established consumer publications, while Classic Rock is a recently-launched magazine. The websites acquired are home-entertainment.co.uk, hifichoice.co.uk and metalhammer.co.uk. The websites will be suspended and developed as e-commerce-based sites, selling CDs and concert tickets online, and will be relaunched in the spring.

Commenting on the acquisitions Jane Ingham, managing director of Future Publishing, said: “These are excellent, successful magazines and websites, and we are delighted that we can bring them into the Future stable. They offer powerful synergies with existing Future titles, and the combined portfolio will be much stronger as a result. We believe that they have a lot of potential to do even better over the coming years.”

Future has been expanding rapidly in the past year. It recently acquired Hip Hop Connection (see Magazine Brief), a range of football titles (see Future Acquires Football Magazines), and made its debut on the Stock Exchange last June (see Price Set For Stake In Future).
