Following the announcement of a wider management restructure last week, publishing group Future has announced its new content and marketing management team.
Under the leadership of Nial Ferguson – who stepped down as MD of the group earlier this month to head up content and marketing – the team will be responsible for the creation and development of brands, audiences and marketing within the games, technology, music, film, photography, creative and design verticals.
Declan Gough will become head of film, games and music, while Nick Merritt will lead tech and Matthew Pierce photography and creative.
Future’s restructure comes as the company undergoes a series of changes after hitting financial difficulties. Following a pre-tax loss of £30.6 million for the half-year ended 31 March, the company announced that it would sell its sports and craft portfolio to Immediate Media in an effort to simplify its business and focus on consumer technology markets.
The sale, which was completed last month, resulted in approximately 170 UK and 40 US job losses.
Future, which is perhaps best known for titles including T3, Total Film and Xbox: The Official Magazine, last year sold more than 14 million magazines. Online, there are currently almost 50 million monthly global unique users to Future websites.
Commenting on the move, Ferguson said: “I am delighted to be able to announce these appointments as we continue the process of restructuring Future around content that connects with consumers and commercial partners.
“We are coming to the end of our transformation process and the focus is now all about putting the exciting plans in place. I know that Nick, Declan and Matthew and their exceptionally talented teams will be able to achieve everything that is asked of them.”
