Future Appoints New Editor To Expand Edge Brand

Future Publishing has appointed Tony Mott as as the new editor of its games magazine, Edge, as it introduces a programme of investment to drive growth during the coming year.
Mott was previously an editor of the magazine and his most recent work includes working on Edge‘s equipment specials and launching Channel 4’s Game Central. He is joined on the editorial team by associate editor Sam Richards and games editor Margaret Robertson.
Future Publishing plans to expand the Edge brand during 2004 by investing in increased distribution, a renewed online commitment and expansion oversees. The magazine, which recently launched in Italy as Videogiochi, is expecting to unveil another European edition in the next few months.
Commenting on the initiative, James Binns, publisher of the Edge, said: “This is my dream team to drive Edge’s passion and commitment to quality games journalism on to the next level. Next year will be a big year for the magazine.”
The latest ABC results for the six months to June 2003 reveals leas than impressive news for Edge, which saw its circulation decline by 12.1% year on year to 27,315, down from 31,063 in the same period the previous year.
Earlier this week Future Publishing redesigned its two flagship PlayStation 2 magazines in an attempt to target the influx of consumers likely to receive the games console as a gift this Christmas (see Future Publishing Redesigns PlayStation 2 Magazines).
