Future Boosts Management Team With New Appointments

Future Publishing has promoted Jayne Caple to advertisement sales director of the group.

Caple, who was previously deputy advertisement sales director, will replace Andrew Milbourn, who is leaving the company at the end of March to set up his own business.

In a separate move, the publishing company has confirmed the appointment of Chris Spratling as retail sales director and Simon Wear as head of export sales and licensing.

In his new position as retail sales director, Spratling will take responsibility for Future’s UK magazine sales and its relationships with retailers.

Prior to joining the company, Spratling was managing director of broadcasting contractor, Campus Media. He has also worked as head of sales and marketing for both Express Newspapers and Natmags. Before this he was deputy circulation director for Condé Nast Publications.

Wear will be responsible for magazine export sales and international licensing activities. According to Future, his promotion underlines the growing importance of international revenues to the group.

Wear joined Future Publishing in 1992 and has worked across a number of Future’s magazines as group advertisement sales manager, commercial manager and as publisher of music technology titles. He has been in charge of international licensing for Future Publishing since 2000.

Commenting on the appointments, Colin Morrison, Future’s UK managing director, said: “Chris Spratling’s appointment is key to the development of Future’s magazine sales and our relationships with retailers. Future’s UK Board is also pleased to welcome Simon Wear, who has led the expansion of our international licensing business over the past two years.”

Earlier this month Future publishing launched a major ad campaign to promote the redesign of its monthly rock and heavy metal magazine, Metal Hammer (see Future To Promote New Look Metal Hammer).
