Future Extends Gaming Portfolio With 101 PC Games

Future Publishing is extending its portfolio of gaming titles with the launch of 101 PC Games for the pre-Christmas period.
The bi-monthly title, which is aimed at hardcore and occasional gamers, will feature a DVD-ROM of 101 playable computer game demos in every issue. The magazine is designed to compliment rather than compete with existing PC games magazines and will adopt a “jargon-fee” style.
Commenting on the launch, the magazine’s publisher, James Binns, said: “Console fever may be reaching its high, but PC gamers aren’t out of the picture. Our flagship title, PC Gamer, is on the up and to compliment this we’re now pleased to launch 101 PC Games.”
ABC results for the six months ending June 2002 will be released later today. However, ABC data for the second half of 2001 shows that Future’s PC Gamer magazine saw circulation increase by 6.8% to 78,553, up from 73,549 in the same period the previous year.
Future Publishing recently launched a promotion to raise awareness of its Official PlayStation 2 Magazine among media buyers in the run up to today’s ABC release. The promotion invites agencies to come up with an estimated figure for the magazine’s third six-monthly ABC release. Following the announcement of the January to June 2002 ABC figures, the winner of the promotion will receive a PlayStation2 games console and a widescreen TV (see Future To Promote Games Title With Pre-ABC Campaign).
