Future Promotes Xbox Launch
OXM, a subsidiary of Future Network, is to release an advanced edition of its Official UK Xbox Magazine to tie in with the launch of Microsoft’s game console.
The preview magazine will come in a flip-top hard card carton and include a glossy brochure-style magazine and a 30 minute video showing clips of games which are to be released for the console next year.
Future has enjoyed success in the past by gaining the licence to publish official magazines for consoles including the Sony Playstation. The majority of Future’s five highest circulating magazines cover the gaming market, with Official Playstation Magazine coming top.
The advanced edition of Official UK Xbox will go on sale on 8 October, the same day as the product launches in the US. It will have an initial print run of 50,000 and retail at £5.50.
The regular magazine will launch in the first quarter of 2002 to coincide with the UK launch of the console. It will be priced around £5 and will come with a covermounted DVD of playable games. The licence to publish the title was won by Future’s US arm, Imagine Media in October last year.
