Future Publishing has announced that the majority shareholder, Chris Anderson, has put Future up for sale, to allow him to concentrate on his publishing interests in the United States.
Future, which was founded in 1985, is Britain’s largest independent consumer magazine publisher, with 30 specialist titles covering computing, video games, music and cycling. Titles include Amiga Power, Mac Format, Gamesmaster and Classic CD.
Anderson commented, “I will be seeking a buyer who understands Future’s true strengths and who will be able to build effectively on what has already been created.” Both Dennis Publishing and VNU are understood to be interested.
