Future Publishing Gives What Guitar? A New Look

Future Publishing is giving its monthly What Guitar? magazine a new look less than six months after it launched.

The title, which targets both professional musicians and guitar hobbyists, is re-vamping its buyer’s guide section this month to offer enhanced navigation and increased content. The new look section will have 16 more pages and will appear on different paper to separate it from the rest of the magazine.

Future claims the redesign will make the buyer’s guide a comprehensive reference tool for any musician looking for buying advice, product round-ups, or road tests.

Publisher, Katherine Raderecht, said: “Our redesigned buyer’s guide is ideal for both readers and for the industry. While readers get more value for money with increased and easy to navigate content, manufacturers of the featured kit gain more exposure for their products.”

What Guitar? launched in March as the sister title to Future Publishing’s Guitar Techniques and Total Guitar magazines.

The latest ABC results for the six months to June 2003 show that Guitar Techniques saw its circulation increase by 8.4% year on year to 14,745, while Total Guitar suffered a sharper 16.3% decline during the same period to 30,192.

Future Publishing’s science fiction magazine, SFX, recently announced plans to launch a special 116-page, one off edition dedicated entirely to Buffy The Vampire Slayer (see SFX Launches Special Buffy Collector’s Guide).
