Future Publishing Plans £1 Million PC Marketing Drive

Future Publishing is launching a £1 million marketing campaign to promote its PC magazine portfolio in the run up to Christmas.
The marketing drive will include additional covermounts, special packaging and point of sale promotions in PC Format, PC Plus and Microsoft Windows XP magazine.
The seasonal promotion aims to raise awareness of PC magazines in the traditionally busy months leading up to Christmas. Publisher, Dave Taylor, commented: “Given that our magazines are very much fourth quarter driven, the lead up to Christmas is an important time for us.”
It is a busy period for Future Publishing’s computer and internet titles; PC Plusmagazine is undergoing a re-vamp and will unveil its new look at the beginning of September. ABC results for the six month period ending in June 2002 brought a mixed bag of results for the computer, gaming and internet magazine sector. Future Publishing’s Official PlayStation 2 magazine experienced a 137% rise in circulation to 195,293, while its Official PlayStation magazine saw a 44.1% year on year decline to 74,383(see ABC Jan – Jun 2002 Computer, Gaming And Internet Magazines).
