Future Rebrands Computer Titles And Details New Launch

Future Publishing is rebranding its computer titles under the name Future Digital and is launching a new monthly title called Digital Camera Magazine.

According to the publisher, the name change is intended to reflect the current technological shift, with the computer, consumer electronics and telecommunications industries forging closer links.

John Weir, Future Digital’s publishing director, said: “Computing is a catch-all term that has served us well over the past few years. But with the growing availability of new technologies, we want to be in a position to offer readers and advertisers new products.”

Digital Camera Magazine, which is aimed at first or second digital camera owners with intermediate PC knowledge, will launch later this month with a cover price of £4.99. The magazine claims to cover every aspect of digital photography and will include a mix of news, interviews and product reviews. Each issue will also be covermounted with two CD-ROMs featuring virtual tours and tutorial files.

Weir added: “In the burgeoning digital camera market, we are pleased to be launching a magazine that will help fuel the market and provide the UK’s best digital camera guide. And with over 100,000 of our current portfolio readers intending to buy a digital camera this year, the launch of Digital Camera Magazine couldn’t be better timed.”

Future has also announced the launch of a one-off magazine called Digital Home, which will be aimed at technology consumers. The 132-page title will go on sale in December offering readers a “coffee table” guide to new technologies in the home.

Earlier this year Future Publishing and 15 other games magazine publishers came together to form the Future Games consortium to offer advertisers one-stop marketing solutions (see Future Consortium To Offer One-Stop Ad Solutions).
