Future Scoops Official Nintendo Publishing Rights

Future Logo Specialist magazine firm, Future, has secured the licence to create the official Nintendo magazine in the UK, positioning the publisher to capitalise on the company’s forthcoming games console, the Nintendo Revolution.

The exclusive licence builds on the successful relationship Future already has with Nintendo in mainland Europe, as the publisher of the French and Italian editions of Nintendo Official magazines since 2002.

The UK licence will see the first issue of the new Nintendo Official Magazine hit British newsstands in February 2006, with Nintendo expected to launch its latest hardware just months later.

Commenting on the award Greg Ingham, chief executive of Future, said: “Nintendo has a strong brand in the games industry and we are delighted to partner with them on this Official magazine in the UK. We’ve published unofficial Nintendo titles in the UK since 1991 and the Official magazines in France and Italy since 2002. Future looks forward to working with Nintendo in building the magazine.”

Future’s reputation for computing titles is well respected, with the company currently publishing the Official Playstation 2 Magazine, Official UK Xbox Magazine and several PC titles.

Earlier this year Future scooped the rights to publish the official magazine to accompany the next generation of Microsoft Windows software. The deal will see Future hold the rights to Windows Vista The Official Magazine for five years, with worldwide licensing and distribution opportunities coming as part of the package (see Future Scoops Rights To Windows Title).
