Future To Promote Games Title With Pre-ABC Campaign

Future Publishing is launching a promotion to raise awareness of its Official PlayStation 2 Magazine among media buyers in the run up to next month’s ABC release.

The promotion will invite agencies to come up with an estimated figure for the magazine’s third six-monthly ABC release. Following the announcement of the January to June 2002 ABC figures, the winner of the promotion will receive a PlayStation2 games console and a widescreen TV.

Commenting on the promotion, publisher of Official PlayStation 2 Magazine, Rob Pegley, said: “We think people will be impressed with our new sales figures and want to promote that fact to agencies, and have some fun at the same time. By raising awareness among both consumers and advertisers, we are aiming at taking the Official PlayStation2 Magazine to a new level.”

Future Publishing recently appointed NMI Group to handle a £300,000 integrated advertising campaign to promote its Official PlayStation 2 Magazine. The campaign, which represents Future’s largest single above-the-line spend to date, will run from August to December and will attempt to raise awareness of the magazine brand amongst PlayStation 2 gamers (see Future To Promote Official PlayStation 2 Magazine).

The increasing popularity of Sony’s PlayStation 2 console helped Future’s Official PlayStation2 Magazine to see circulation increase by 53.7% to 125,895, according to ABC figures for the six months ending December 2001.
