GfK Estimates Dish Ownership Up 15.8% In Last Year

The latest figures from GfK put Satellite Dish Ownership (Direct to Home) at 2.612 million as of 23rd April 1994. This represents an increase of 47,000 dishes since March 1994, and an increase of 414,000 dishes on April 1993 BARB’s latest figures (May 1994) put dish ownership at 2.739 million. BARB data includes Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands. Communal dishes are estimated at a further 90,000.

POLAND IS NEXT TARGET FOR SUBSCRIPTION SATELLITE CHANNELS

Poland, the third biggest satellite TV market (1.5m dish owners, 1m cable TV households) will be targetted for the first time with subscription channels in the Autumn by Multi Choice Poland, a joint venture between News Corporation and Nethold, the parent company of FilmNet.
