Ginger Television Secures First ITV1 Series

Scottish Media Group’s Ginger Television has secured its first drama series for ITV1, a factual-entertainment show about a funeral home, provisionally entitled Don’t Drop The Coffin.

The show is believed to have been inspired by HBO’s Six Feet Under, which was recently screened on Channel 4 and was a hit with audiences and advertisers alike. It is hoped ITV1’s foray into the world of funeral homes will also prove popular and the initial six 30-minute episodes are expected to be scheduled in prime-time.

Ginger Television has also been commissioned by Channel 5 to produce a reality TV show in which celebrities undergo an intensive detox session in Thailand. It is hoped that the provisionally entitled Celebrity Detox will prove as successful as ITV1’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

ITV1 is banking on celebrities to deliver audiences this Christmas (see Celebrity Big Brother Suffers From Reality TV Fatigue) but if the response to Channel 4’s latest series of Celebrity Big Brother is anything to go by, the audience love affair with little-known personalities may have been short lived.
