Glamour Makes Stunning 450,000 ABC Debut

New consumer magazine figures released today by the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) show that new life has been breathed into the women’s monthly market with the dramatic entry of Condé Nast’s Glamour. The title smashed its original 250,000 target by achieving a circulation of 451,486 in this, its first audit. In doing so, the handbag sized fashion title snapped at the heels of established market leader, Natmag’s Cosmopolitan, which saw its circulation rise by 0.5% year on year to reach 452,176.

Another key area of interest during this period was once again the Celebrity titles. With the magazine buying public’s appetite for celebrity gossip seemingly unabated, the July-December 2000 success story of Heat was repeated, as the Emap titles saw a spectacular year on year increase of 147.5%. Even in a period on period analysis, its 235,450 circulation meant it was up 36.6%, and shows how successful the title’s revamp has been.

The full concurrently released figures will be available in MediaTel’s Press database after the embargo time of 5pm today.
