Global Radio Hires New Commercial Chief

Global Radio Hires New Commercial Chief

Global Radio Logo Global Radio has appointed the former managing director of News Group Newspapers, Mike Gordon, as its commercial chief.

The new role was created as part of the operator’s £375 million merger with GCap Media in April this year (see Global Radio To Acquire GCap For £375m).

Gordon, who will bring Global’s national and local commercial teams together under one management structure, will oversee five agency sales teams, one client sales team and one interactive sales team.

He will take over from chief operating officer Don Thompson, who has been temporarily covering the role, on December 1.

Gordon is expected to report directly to the Stephen Miron, who is due to start as Global’s new chief executive on the same day (see Global Radio Hires New Chief Exec Following GCap Merger).

Miron was previously the managing director of the Mail on Sunday and the Mail Online and was behind the exclusive Prince CD giveaway last year.

Gordon also has a history in newspapers, working as commercial director for Times Newspapers and director of NGN, before leaving earlier this year.
