GMTV: Smash Hits Link Denied

A spokeswoman from GMTV today denied any links with Smash Hits magazine. Following rumours in today’s trade press, a representative of the breakfast programme told MediaTel that no plans have been discussed for the allocation of a slot for the popular teen magazine.

It was claimed that GMTV would run the slot, beginning in September, just before 8am, hoping to benefit from The Big Breakfast’s drop in audience over the last year.

There have been many rumours recently of links between broadcasters and other media who are anticipating a change in ITC rules on sponsorship code later in the year. Earlier this month a spokeswoman from Hello told MediaTel that any talk of a television version of the magazine was entirely spurious.
