Go On Tour With MTV

MTV is going to broadcast its first ever travel programme, MTV’s World Tour on 14 April 1997. Debuting with six, half-hour episodes this globetrotting weekly series aims to reinvent the classic travel show format, with each episode designed to reflect the genuine and uncensored travel experiences and aspirations of young people.
This is the first programme MTV Europe has created with the programme sales market in mind; the company will be taking this series to MIP 97. The show uses a highly flexible kit format that can be easily tailored by other broadcasters into different programme formats and languages. The programme also uses a new programming concept – the ‘Infoburst’ – to convey supplementary information, such as flight details and prices, that cannot be included in the programming content due to time constraints. Formerly used for advertising, ‘Infobursts’ flash up on to the screen for no more than three frames, faster than the human eye can see, and are visible only when the programme is taped on VHS, played back and paused at the appropriate page.
….Swissair has signed an advertising agreement with MTV Europe. The Swiss airline, will be broadcasting its advertising campaign throughout MTV’s pan European network until November this year.
