Google’s new web browser, Chrome, gained market share within its first 24 hours, although it has since given back some of these gains to the market leaders Internet Explorer and Firefox.
According to internet measurement firm Net Applications, Chrome grabbed 1% of the market but as of last week had fallen to 0.77%.
Vince Vizzaccaro, executive vice president of marketing and strategic alliances Net Applications, said: “Chrome started off pretty fast and furious.
“Within 24 hours they surpassed 1% of usage market share which was shocking and impressive. Since then, they have been slowly fading in market percentages. The trend has a slight downward angle to it.”
Net Applications bases its findings on tracking the browsers of unique visitors to two million websites around the globe.
