Government Bans Eros Porn Channel

The hard-core pornographic satellite channel Eros TV is the latest to fall victim to a proscription order, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport announced this week.

The Government has informed the French authorities and the European Commission that it ‘considers this service to have manifestly, seriously and gravely infringed the directive’s provisions on the protection of children.’

Minister Janet Anderson commented: “If we are unable to resolve this matter within 15 days of this notification and the broadcaster continues to transmit such offensive programmes, we shall proceed to make an order effectively proscribing the service in the UK.”

Eros TV is not the first channel to be subject to such action – Eurotica Rendez-Vous was also targeted earlier in the year (see Newsline).
