Government Rejects Predatory Pricing Clause
As expected the Government has voted against adding Clause 19 to the Competition Bill (see Government To Vote On Predatory Pricing). The Clause was proposed by the House of Lords to prevent the use of predatory pricing by national newspaper publishers.
However, the Government believes that existing rules are sufficient to prevent anti-competitive behaviour.
Protesters to this decision can make a final attempt to change this when the Bill reaches its report stage.
