Grade Link With Chairmanship Of YTTV
A report by Raymond Snoddy in today’s Financial Times suggests that a number of talks have been held between Michael Grade, chief executive of Channel 4 and Ward Thomas, chairman of Yorkshire-Tyne Tees TV who has made it clear that he would like to retire from this post in the summer of 1996. Grade’s contract with Channel 4 runs out in 1996.
Snoddy doubts YTTV’s ability to induce the C4 boss to join, and Grade, himself, has hardly fuelled the speculation with a reported comment that “there is no substance in it all.”
Yesterday YTTV threatened to dismiss 100 employees by October 21 unless they accept new cost-saving terms and conditions.
