Granada Gives LWT Blessing To Carlton
Chief executive of Granada, Gerry Robinson, is reported to have given Carlton Television the go-ahead to bid for LWT if the ITV ownership rules are changed, claiming that Granada will sell its stake in the London station. If this should happen, Granada may resume its interest in Carlton’s stake in Central or the 14% stake that LWT has in Yorkshire Tyne Tees.
Meanwhile, national heritage secretary, Peter Brooke, is due to tell the House of Commons today that he has reached no decision over amendments to the 1990 Act and it is expected that a formal response will not be issued until late September.
