Granada Poaches CEO From Zenith

Granada has poached Graham Duff from media buying agency Zenith UK to head up its advertising sales division.

Duff, former chief executive of Zenith UK, will become the CEO of Granada Enterprises with responsibility for advertising sales across Granada’s broadcasting franchises. He replaces Mick Desmond who has been promoted to managing director of Granada Broadcasting and Enterprises.

The appointment is part of a move by Granada to unify broadcasting and airtime sales and to provide a “more commercially driven focus.”

Chief executive of Granada, Steve Morrison, said: “By bringing together the management of our TV stations and our advertising sales house, we’re not only responding to our clients’ needs, we are also bringing the combined business much closer to the viewer and the advertiser.”

A spokesperson for Granada, added: “We know what advertisers want and now we are able to think in the same direction. Graham’s appointment means that key decisions will be made by people with advertising backgrounds, which wasn’t always the case.”

Granada announced plans to reorganise its businesses into two distinct divisions, Granada Content and Granada Broadcasting and Enterprises, in June when the company’s interim results confirmed that the difficult market was taking its toll (see Granada Confirms Difficult Market With Interim Results).
