Granada Unveils New Channel Details

Granada Sky Broadcasting (GSB) has unveiled details of seven new cable and satellite channels it will begin broadcasting on October 1st.

The new channels, the result of a collaboration between BSkyB and Granada/LWT, are Granada Plus, Granada Talk TV, TV High Street, Food and Wine, Health and Beauty, Home and Garden and Granada Men and Motors. Stuart Prebble, chief executive of GSB, said: “Many of the new channels will provide original programming aimed at women, whom research shows are the most under-served and dissatisfied cable and satellite audience.”

Channel Programming Times Broadcast
Granada Plus Drawing on the extensive libraries of Granada and LWT, programmes will include dramas, comedies and documentaries: Coronation Street,Jeeves and Wooster and Sherlock Holmes. Also included will be new interviews with actors and production crews. 6am-11pm
Granada Men and Motors Classic cars, super-bikes, sport, music, comedy and fashion will all be featured. A ‘men’s magazine of the airwaves’ aimed at ABC1 viewers. 11pm-2am
Granada Talk TV Offers a new kind of interactive television: viewers can join debates by telephone, e-mail, fax and a special network of video-phones. 6am-6pm
The Granada Good Life Channels are:
TV High Street A consumer channel giving advice on the best buys in the High Street, ranging from groceries to gardening, from fashion to finance. 6am-9am
Food and Wine Culinary stars with gastronomic advice include Delia Smith, Robert Carrier, Keith Floyd, Brian Turner and Susan Brookes. Regular cookery courses will also be featured. 9am-12 noon
Health and Beauty ‘For women to take a moment for themselves’, programming will include a Rosemary Conley work-out, help and advice from Dr Chris Steele and a guide to ‘alternative health’. 12 noon-3pm
Home and Garden Programmes from top gardeners and interior designers, plus consumer-testing from the Good Housekeeping Institute. 3pm-6pm

A national marketing campaign will be run by GSkyB alongside the Cable Communication Association.
