Granada/Carlton Announce Improved Start To Year

Granada Group and Carlton Communications both reported improved starts to their years yesterday at AGMs.

Michael Green, chairman of Carlton, told the AGM that the television division, which includes Central, was significantly ahead in the first quarter. The integration of Carlton and Central was now largely complete and ad revenues were growing.

Alex Bernstein, chairman of Granada told its AGM that improvements in operating efficiency in the television division were expected to lift profits for the full year, with the acquisition of LWT helping to make the Television section the largest profit earner within Granada.
