Grazia to launch new magazine app for iPhone

Bauer Media’s popular glossy Grazia has announced the launch of a new ‘shop-able’ weekly magazine app for iPhone.

Powered by Pugpig and available from Apple’s Newsstand, the new app will deliver interactive content, as well as an integrated ecommerce feature exclusive to the publication.

The app follows the launch of weekly magazine editions for both the iPad and Blackberry Z10 smartphone over the past 12 months.

The iPhone edition contains all of the editorial content seen in the print magazine with an additional shopping facility, enabling users to shop in-app, share via social channels, and save to a cross-edition wish list. Victoria Harper, special projects director at Grazia and Bauer Media, said that Grazia has always envisioned a magazine app that was more than just a PDF page turner.

The platform also allows Grazia to offer a variety of advertising options to its brands, ranging from sponsored links to product placement, tenancy deals, and bespoke interactive pages.

Jonny Kaldor, CEO and co-founder of Kaldor said: “Working closely with the Grazia team, we were able to create a beautiful app that was perfectly aligned with the production values of the print edition, while offering a new set of features such as shopping and sharing, that are only possible with a digital edition, and all this without killing the editorial team.

“Too many brands undermine the hard work they put into print editions by using simple PDF page turners – an approach that, according to research, is not appreciated by readers. As a result, Grazia stands out as a visionary brand, pushing the boundaries of digital publishing across multiple platforms.”

The app is available to download for free from today, but users will pay a £1.99 for each issue.
