Guardian And Sky Plan Stakes In Art Channel

The Guardian Media Group and BSkyB have been holding talks with a view to taking stakes in an arts pay-TV channel. Artsworld will be fronted by Sir Jeremy Issacs and will feature a range of arts programming.

It is believed that Sky has taken a 20% stake in the channel and agreed its carriage on SkyDigital. GMG is also understood to be negotiating a 20% stake in return for backing of around £3million.

The station hopes to be on air at the end of this year after announcing its investors at the end of this month.
