Guardian Launches Educational Website

Guardian Newspapers has launched an educational website. Learn.co.uk offers UK school students, teachers and parents a vast range of interactive resources via the internet.

A joint venture between the newspaper group and South African distance-learning company, Educational Interactive Services, the site will encompass the whole of the national curriculum by the end of 2001 and will feature revision guides, archive material from the Guardian, and interactive assessment facilities.

Colin Hughes, formerly associate editor at the Guardian, has been appointed publisher of the site, which will partner Education Unlimited, the group’s dedicated website for education professionals.

The first in a series of new websites aimed at developing the group’s core editorial values, it was unveiled by Carolyn McCall, managing director designate of the group. “This launch shows GNL’s plan to develop successful online properties that reflect the editorial integrity of the Guardian,” she said.
