Guardian Launches Shift Control

The Guardian’s New Media Lab will launch a new Internet magazine entitled Shift Control on October 4. Updated weekly, the site will look at culture, arts and lifestyle with material specifically designed for the Internet. Also featured is By Products, a satirical animation which will be updated daily.

Shift Control is being sponsored by Whitbread and will have different brands supporting different sections. Both the editorial work and adverts will be created by the New Media Lab working with Motive Communications and Whitbread Beer Company.

Robin Hunt, head of Media Lab, said: “Shift control is not the first online magazine on the web, but it promises to be one of the first that is created with intelligence, innovation and creativity – reflecting the qualities found everyday in The Guardian.”

The launch of Shift Control follows recent launches of similar online magazines such as Electronic Telegraph’s Etcetera *(Website Of The Week: Etcetera).
