Guardian Launches ‘Unlimited’ Website Network

In January the Guardian is to launch Guardian Unlimited, a network of websites which the company claims is the most extensive and imaginative offering from a UK newspaper publisher so far.

To coincide with its launch, both the Guardian and the Observer will be running a ‘Get the Net Week’ with themed editorial across both the newspapers from 11-17 January. This promotion will be supported by an in-paper and national radio campaign which begins on 11 January; creative is by Partners BDDH and media buying was handled by New PHD.

The network revolves around a ‘hub’ site, Guardian Unlimited (www.guardianunlimited.co.uk), from which specialist sites are accessible. These will include Cricket, Football, Jobs, Film, Work, News, Books and Politics all of which will be branded as Unlimited. The Guardian hopes that each of the sites will be the strongest in its market.

Simon Waldman, internet editor, said: “This is an unprecedented initiative by a UK broadsheet and will maintain the Guardian and the Observer‘s reputation for innovation. Guardian Unlimited aims to be the UK’s most interactive, intelligent and entertaining source of information on the internet.”
