Guardian Reveals Spring Changes

The Guardian has today announced the details of its spring revamp, promising, amongst other things, increased sports and business coverage in the main broadsheet newspaper. There is also to be an increase in colour throughout the paper.

The changes, which begin on Monday 19 April, will see the G2 tabloid supplement published on Fridays, as well as the current Monday to Thursday editions. The Friday G2 will feature a new ‘Relationships’ section which will encompass an expanded version of the Private Lives feature. Fridays will also see the arrival of Editor, previously published on Saturdays.

The paper’s Guide section, currently published every Saturday, is to be extended across the week with the introduction of Guide Daily – six pages in G2. Guide Daily will hold TV listings for cable, satellite and digital channels as well as arts, cinemas and events details.

Stephen Palmer, marketing director of the Guardian, said: “While other newspapers continue to discount and sell on the back of short term promotions, the Guardian has taken the initiative, using the opportunity presented by new technology to again invest in the newspaper, and its journalism.”
