Guardian To Celebrate Euro ’96

The Guardian has announced that it will be celebrating the start of football’s Euro ’96 tournament with a guide to the event. ‘The Ticket’ is described by the newspaper as an ‘indispensable and irreverent guide to the games’ and will be launched on Saturday June 1st.

Each page will be like a match ticket with essential information on each game: where and when it takes place, where it is being shown on TV, plus profiles of the 16 participating teams.

The Ticket will be supported by a national press and radio advertising campaign and below-the-line sampling.

Midland Bank is also believed to be sponsoring the Daily Mirror’s coverage of Euro ’96, with branded strips at the top and bottom of the football pages. The deal is believed to be worth around £200,000. No one was available for further comment at either Midland Bank or the Mirror.
