Guardian Unlimited has appointed Simon Waldman as its new head, following the news that Justin Walters is to leave the company to start his own internet venture.
Waldman, who is currently editor of the Guardian websites, will take on responsibility for the commercial, editorial and marketing areas of the network when Walters resigns at the end of next month. Walters will remain within the company as a consultant to Guardian Newspapers.
