Ecast Ventures, the new media arm of GWR Group, has announced that it has invested £1 million in Countyweb, a regional business directory and portal. The deal will forge a media partnership between the two, with GWR cross-promoting the group’s services on its radio stations, which include Classic FM.
The investment will give Ecast Ventures a 3.74% stake in the group and will be satisfied in cash. Countyweb comprises 56 interlinked sites with a county focus and six websites covering Scotland, Wales and other regions. It provides free listings of basic contact information to businesses within their local directory and sells enhanced listings on a local, regional and national basis.
Simon Ward, commercial director of Ecast Ventures, said: “There are definite synergies between GWR’s radio brands, our new internet portal and Countyweb’s comprehensive business lists and other consumer car, property and leisure locators.”
