GWR Hits £11m Profit
Radio group GWR this morning announced financial results for the year ended 31 March 1997 which show that pre-tax profit has risen from £5.5m to £11.9m. Turnover increased from £39.1m to £63.8m.
The group also announced that it would be selling its St Albans radio station to Essex Radio and that it would be setting up its own in-house sales operation in the wake of Media Sales and Marketing focusing solely on its Capital and Virgin portfolio (subscribers see A Capital Team).
In its trading statement for the year GWR said that it had been pleased with the relaunches of the LBC AM and FM stations. It also stated that trading conditions in the new financial year slowed in the run up to the General Election but that the rate if growth in revenues has now improved, especially in relation to national sales.
More information regarding the setting up of GWR’s new sales house will be available on Newsline as soon as possible.
