GWR Sells KLFM

GWR has just announced that it will be selling its Kings Lynn radio station, KLFM, to Dawe Media for £1.075 million.
The main reason for the sale is to bring GWR’s audience share to within the 15% maximum allowed by the Radio Authority. In order to comply with this the group sold three of its “gold” stations in January * GWR Sells Gold Stations and the disposal of KLFM will bring its audience share down to 15.64%.
GWR is now looking for a buyer for its 11% stake in London News Radio and the Authority has given GWR until April 7 to conclude this sale. A likely buyer is Daily Mail & General Trust which already holds 20% of LNR and has expressed an interest in increasing its stake in the past.
KLFM’s last Rajar figures saw a drop in weekly reach of 2%, falling from 50,000 to 49,000 year on year. Its total hours also fell 0.78% to 634,000.
