GWR Welcomes Government’s Communications Green Paper

Commercial radio group, GWR, has welcomed the Government’s Green Paper, Regulating Communications: Approaching Convergence In The Information Age, which was published yesterday (see Government ‘Green Paper’ Sets The Scene For The Fundamental Restructuring Of The Information Superhighway).

GWR chief executive, Ralph Bernard, said: “The broadcast and communication industries are developing rapidly – it is essential that Government remains open to input from the major players so the legislation moves forward in line with the needs of the industry.”

Bernard last week unveiled his blueprint for the future of commercial radio calling for a public service from the BBC while commercial stations will provide a public interest focus (see GWR Chief Blueprints The Future Of Radio).
