Hachette Filipacchi has appointed Tim Kirkman, previously Head of Press at Carat, as its new sales director.

In his new position, which he will assume later this month, Kirkman will take responsibility for advertising sales across Hachette’s magazine portfolio which includes Elle, Red and Sugar.

The newly created position of Sales Director completes Hachette’s board and senior management team, following the establishment of the business in the UK 12 months ago.

Kirkman will report directly to Hachette’s UK chairman, Kevin Hand, who commented: “Tim brings to Hachette Filipacchi UK exceptional commercial experience and a proven ability to create tailored communications and marketing solutions. At a time when the advertising industry is rapidly changing Tim, with his insight into the requirements of clients and agencies, is perfectly placed to lead Hachette’s very talented team into its second year and beyond.”

He continued: “Tim joins us at an exciting time in our company’s strategic development and will help accelerate our growth in the UK magazine market.”

Kirkman added: “I very much look forward to working with Kevin Hand and the Hachette Filipacchi UK team. The business has a quality portfolio of magazine brands and real ambitions for growth in the future. They are a major force in publishing worldwide and in their first year in the UK have proved themselves to be a progressive and innovative business in the sector with real potential for growth.
