Hallmark Entertainment Network Gets Carriage On BSkyB

Hallmark Entertainment Network, the US-based 24-hour general entertainment service, is to launch on BSkyB’s digital platform early next year. The family-based channel, which is famed for its original movies and mini-series, will be especially tailored for the UK.

Its programming will be acquired from Hallmark Entertainment, the station’s parent company, and third parties including BSkyB. Day-time slots and children’s blocks will complement its primetime shows.

Announcing the deal managing director of Sky Networks Elizabeth Murdoch said: “British viewers want programming that is enriching, as well as entertaining. The top-flight line-up from Hallmark underlines Sky’s committment to giving viewers the widest range of quality entertainment for the whole family.”

The service is expected to be available to cable viewers from 2001.
