US imports continued to dominate the charts during November, with comedy Mr Deeds and action XxX taking fourth and fifth place in the CAA rankings. However, small budget Australian drama Rabbit Proof Fence benefited from critical acclaim and took over £1 million during November, making it the tenth most popular film of the month.
It is expected that December’s cinema admissions will also be dominated by sequels. The second part of the Lord Of The Rings trilogy; The Two Towers reportedly smashed box office records during December. It is also understood that Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets, which took £35.5 million in November, will also rate highly in December’s chart.
According to the CAA, admissions for January to November 2002 totalled 159 million, an increase of 13% year on year.
