Haymarket Saves Stuff From Closure
Stuff, the magazine which was closed by its current publishers Dennis at the beginning of the month, has been rescued by Haymarket Magazines which intends to continue with production of the February edition where Dennis left off.
Dennis decided to close the magazine after circulation did not grow at the rate that was anticipated (see Men’s Title Not Made Of The Right Stuff). Stuff‘s latest ABC audit, for Jan – Jun 1998, reported average sales of 64,183.
Haymarket is planning to hone the magazine’s focus to become a guide to hi-tech electronic products and gadgets. In its current form, Stuff is a cross between this and lads’ lifestyle title. Haymarket also believes that the magazine has potential on the internet and at live events through its exhibitions arm.
Eric Verdon-Roe, managing director at Haymarket Magazines, says: “We believe we can offer advertisers a very strong audience of men interested in the latest technology and objects of desire.”
