Heat Appoints Editor

Heat The acting editor of celebrity magazine Heat, Julian Linley, has been permanently appointed to the post.

He has been acting editor of the magazine since Mark Frith stepped down earlier this month.

Linley joined Heat in 2000 and was Frith’s deputy for five years before leaving to become launch editor of First.

In May last year he helped to launch the Heat website, heatworld.com (see Heat Gets Online Presence).

A report on MediaGuardian.com quotes Heat managing director, David Davies, as saying: “Julian has seen off some of the very best editorial talent in the industry to secure the role, and I know he will continue to build upon and develop Heat‘s position at the forefront of the celebrity media marketplace,” the Heat managing director.

“There isn’t another brand to match Heat‘s presence or potential in the celebrity space which is why this job attracted a stellar cast of candidates.”

The latest ABC results, for July to December 2007, show that Heat shed 65,589 copies from its circulation, to leave it with a total of 533,034 copies (see ABC Results Jul-Dec 2007: Women’s Weeklies See Sizeable Declines With Few Bucking The Trend).
